Apart from the most apparent attractions of Mallorca or Majorca Island of wonderful climate, splendid beaches and a plentiful supply of well priced accommodation, there are loads of other things to see and do, some constructed specifically for the tourist, with some ancient and more natural. Below I will show a few of the more well known Mallorca attractions, to help ensure your visit there is more enjoyable and perhaps more interesting.

The Western Water Park in the town of Calvia near the lively resort of Magaluf is a somewhat strange mix of western cowboy displays and an aqua park. There is a great choice of flumes, steep slides and wild river rides for action seeking adults, plus more sedate, different themed sections for the younger children. Then when you are exhausted with those you can go and watch a show starring acrobats and cowboys! It opens from ten in the morning from early May to late October (closing times can vary).

Not much further away in Costa d en Blanes is Marine Land which, as the name implies, is a visitor park centred on marine aquariums (with displays of tropical fish, various sharks and penguins). There are loads of shows to keep your whole party amused, the most popular are the dolphin shows. plus the sea lion displays. For the younger children there is a small water pool to help them keep cool, as well. This is open from early February through to late November.

The Auto Safari Zoo in Sa Coma, Mallorca, is the only real zoo on Mallorca Island and has all the typical animals (lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants, chimps, giraffes, hippos ...) plus a car safari (you can either use your own vehicle or take a mini train) through the prairies of Mallorca! Please remember that repairing a rental car can be quite expensive so I would definitely advise that you to use the train. This is an open all the year round park.

There are lots of wonderful buildings to visit all over Mallorca, with magnificent architecture from past eras, after all, remember that the Moors and Romans have also "toured" here as well. The historic quarter of Palma should not be missed with its glorious gothic Cathedral, the old Palace, plus churches and old villas, or try visiting one of the many Mallorca museums.

A few of the natural wonders of Mallorca include its caves, the most well known of which is certainly the "Cuevas del Drach" or The Caves of Drach, close to Porto Cristo. These ancient caverns are vast, in fact they are over a mile and a half deep and include a subterranean boating pool where classical music concerts are performed in them every day. They (the caves) are open all year round, with varying opening times according to which season, so please check before you leave.

During high season I would suggest booking all the attractions in Mallorca well in advance, if that is at all possible, to avoid any disappointment.
