If you are planning to visit Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Spain and are searching for some "things to do" or "something to keep the children amused", you will be pleased to know there are loads of great visitor attractions all over this beautiful island. The entry prices are usually quite reasonable, in fact many offer family packages or very often you are able to find discounted tickets at tourist offices in every holiday resort. All the big Tenerife Tourist attractions have tour bus services offering day trips to them, often at cheap prices, with the entry fee included, or alternatively you can find your own way to each of them. Below is listed just a few of the bigger visitor attractions.

Tenerife Zoos
Loro Parque is a first class zoo and parrot attraction in Puerto de la Cruz (in the northern part of the Tenerife). There are all the typical zoo animals such as gorillas and alligators, plus the aquarium which even has sharks. The parrot shows, penguins and dolphins are amongst the many popular park exhibits and it is open all year. There is another animal zoo in the south of Tenerife nearby to Los Cristianos, called the Parque Las Aguilas.

Tenerife Water Parks
If you love water parks you will just adore the Octopus Aqua Park, which has an abundance of slides for every member of the family. This is another all year attraction thanks to the warm climate. It is in the south at Playa de las Americas. Visitor queues can be quite long during peak times and at holiday weekends so plan your trip accordingly. There is a smaller water park in Adeje also.

Mount Teide
Wherever you visit on Tenerife, the enormous Mount Teide looms in the distance, often with snow on the peak which is sometimes hard to comprehend when you are baking by the pool. The number one most popular attraction on Tenerife and well worth a trip to the summit of this amazing volcano for the wonderful views and to visit the old lava flows which have been used as scenery to many big films. Tours to Mt Teide can be had from all over the island.

Tenerife Gardens
The Jardin Botanico (botanical gardens) in the northern town of Puerto de la Cruz have a wonderful selection of tropical fauna from around the world.

Tenerife Jeep Safaris
There are many quad or jeep safaris offered at various places on the island, some are certainly not for the timid or younger children so visitors should check prior to booking them. Some are even offered on the higher slopes and old lava fields of Mount Teide so do not forget to take something warm to wear as it can get very cold up there.

Tenerife Museums
There are many local museums throughout the island or try a visit to the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the Museum of Natural and Human History.
