Caleta de Fuste is a custom built resort on the eastern coastline of Fuerteventura Island. Caleta has considerably expanded in the last few years, including another 18 hole golf course and a brand new Sheraton Hotel. Also called Costa Caleta, especially with the big package holiday firms, this peaceful town mainly attracts younger families from all over Europe.

Caleta beach is located in a large bay and lined with cafes and pavement bars. The fine sand, which has been imported, slopes very gently into the ocean making it perfect for younger children. In the south of Caleta bay are smallish lagoons, created when the Sheraton was constructed. There are many local attractions in Caleta de Fuste that are targeted toward younger children, like the crazy golf course, play ground with trampolines, and a small train ride.

Caleta harbour is located by the old tower, the El Castillo, which dates to the early 17th century. There are numerous boat tours available from the quay, like whale watching and catamaran pleasure trips. The town also has a selection of watersports, including windsurfing and sub-aqua, with lessons for beginners. Caleta de Fuste golf also has two championship courses. The first of which opened in 2002 and hosted the Spanish Open in 2004.

Further north of the town is the coastal trail that leads to Nuevo Horizonte. This pleasant path by the rocks attracts Squirrels, called locally, chipmunks and are tame enough to be fed. Nuevo Horizonte has a selection of fine restaurants and bars.

Caleta de Fuste nightlife is quite tame, but there are a few music bars that remain open very late. One of the most best is Pieros in the Castillo Centro, which has karaoke and other entertainment. Caleta has a good selection of restaurants of different types, such as Spanish, Italian, International, Indian and Chinese. One of the best restaurants in the town for a good meal out is the seafood restaurant, the Frasquita, which overlooks the ocean. Also highly commended is the dining in the luxury Hotel, the Elba Palace, found next to the golf course.

The Atlantico shopping Centre, is the towns main commercial complex, housing a supermarket, cinema, amusements, bowling, boutiques, bars plus restaurants, all set inside gardens by a lake. Nearby to the Atlantico Centre are lots of fast food chains like Burger King and McDonalds. Each Saturday the Fuerteventura market visits the town withclothes, ceramic, shoe, embroidery and African stalls.

Caleta de Fuste is a very flat resort, so it is nice and easy to travel around and bike hire is popular. The town is located about 4 miles (nearly 7 km) from the Fuerteventura Airport. Cabs between Caleta and the international airport cost about 15 euros. There are regular buses from the town to Puerto del Rosario, and other resorts on the island.
