Palma Nova is a very popular package holiday destination in the south of Mallorca, with three large beaches of white sand, a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, plus some excellent facilities for all the family. There is a large range of water sports that can be taken at Palma Nova, including sub aqua, jet and water skiing, parascending and kitesurfing. Although a little quieter than lively Magaluf, Palma Nova still gets extremely busy during the summer season.

Palma Nova beaches include the Son Maties, the Playa de Palma Nova and the Es Carregador, all of which have a good range of holiday facilities including lifeguards (peak season only), first aid, sun loungers and showers. Next to Son Maties is the cape which separates Palma Nova from nearby Magaluf. All three beaches are backed by a long esplanade lined with tourist hotels, takeaway outlets, bars and restaurants. A small commercial centre consisting a supermarket, pharmacist and various other shops is located closeby. Further north of Palma Nova are some more secluded coves, including Son Caliu which has golden sand and palms. A little further along the coastline is Portals Nous, regarded as more of a celebrity resort. Portals Nous has a large yacht marina, the Puerto Portals, which has smart boutiques and first class restaurants such as the Tristan, which has two Michelin stars and Wellies which serves typical pub grub and evening meals.

Palma Nova is very much a family targeted resort with tourist attractions geared toward the kids such as Golf Fantasia, set in a tropical garden near to the beach. This large crazy golf course has three different 18 holes each with features like waterfalls, ponds and caves. Golf Fantasia even has its very own cafe where you can enjoy some refreshment and a bite to eat after your golf. It can be very busy during the peak season so book early.

Just outside the town at Costa d en Blanes is the Marine Land adventure, known for the dolphin and sea lion shows where children are often selected from the audience to take part in them. Marine Land also has aquariums, aviaries and parrot shows. Transabus run regular buses from Palma Nova directly to the park.

Palma Nova nightlife is very wild so it is probably better to set off into Magaluf if you want to dance the night away, but there are several music bars and karaoke pubs though, such as Banana Joes which often has British DJs. Along the promenade in Palma Nova there is a wide variety of cafes and fine restaurants, including fast food chains like MacDonalds, Spanish tapas bars, and Chinese, American, Indian and Italian establishments, then there are the typical English pubs offering full English breakfasts.

Palma Nova is located about 8 miles west of the capital, Palma, and almost 13 miles west of the international Mallorca Airport. There are regular coaches operated by Transabus to Palma, but there are not direct buses to the airport, instead you must change at Palma de Mallorca.
